Best Fishing Story: My best story was catching the 6 lb large mouth on Papoose Pond with my Dad. I was 6 years old. We had just pushed off shore in a paddle boat and headed out toward a patch of lily pads. My Dad rigged a slugo on a spinning rod for me and told me to cast it out and wait. I cast out, but my Dad wasn’t paying attention. As soon as it hit the water, my rod was dragged into the water. I told my Dad that I had one. He thought I was kidding and told me to reel it in….but I couldn’t. I saw a huge flash in the water and told him it was huge. He turned around and saw me being dragged over the boat. He grabbed me by my pants and pulled me back up and helped me reel it in. When we got back to shore, everyone came out with cameras and was taking my picture with the fish. The fish was half as tall as me. Then we let it go. I wanted to go back out and catch him again. I cast right were I caught the fish. I felt a tug on my line and reeled it in. But it was only a pile of lily pads. We caught a few other small fish that day. I caught more than my dad did. My biggest fish since then was 5.92 lbs, caught at Lake Wentworth in a tournament this year – I won $380!
