Best Fishing Story: Any of the “big” fishing trips I go on with my dad are always incredible, but my experiences at Lake Champlain over the past few years top them all- My dad and I spent 4 days in Vermont on the northern end of the lake in the early fall of 2011 so that he could get ready for the divisional being held there several weeks later. We caught a lot of big fish and had a ton of fun. This past summer, I made two trips back to Lake Champlain with my dad, although this time we stayed on the southern end of the lake. The difference between the top and the bottom of the lake is like night and day- you would think you had fished two different lakes. However, we caught plenty of fish on the southern end as well. The ride to the southern end of the lake was incredible, with mountains and trees and farmland everywhere. On our second return to the lake this past summer, I had the opportunity to compete in the New Hampshire State Fish-off. On Day 1, I was paired with Tim Dube, a 19 year old, and together we made up the youngest boat on the first day of the tournament. He ended up competing in the 2013 divisional tournament on Sebago several weeks later, so it was really neat to meet up with him again. Neither of us ended up making the top 12 after the second day, but it was still an awesome experience. Also, the times I beat my dad while fishing are always at the top of my list of best fishing stories.
