USA Bassin

USA Bassin Maine and New England

USA Bassin is a grass roots team tournament trail, catering to the amateur angler. USA Bassin has a "family friendly" and wholesome atmosphere paired with low entry fees for a weekend tournament at $50.00. This makes USA Bassin not only fun, but one of the most affordable club tournament trails in the country. For 2008 USA Bassin estimated its membership would grow to over 2000 members and will hold just about 400 tournaments spread throughout Maine, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Virginia. 2300 members was the actual number.

USA Bassin 2008 in Review

What a year - 2008! In 2006 we looked into and started a tournament trail for New England which we hoped would include all New England States in a few short years. Well growth is the name of the game and we have grown. Our growth just hasn't come in anglers, but has come in creating lasting relationships with communities and partnerships.

I first want to say thank you to all the anglers who fished with USA Bassin, Jimmy, Peter and I here in New England. We again have forge relationships which I know will be key to our continued growth and I know in 2009 we will strengthen these and create more. I personally have had a fun and challenging year and these relationships have made all the difference. So again thank you and I look forward to seeing each of you next year.

So how did we grow in 2008? We held 26 tournaments compared to 10 last year, stretching from just a few miles from the Canadian border with the Downeast Divisions to the Western Massachusetts on Lake Congamond. We had 122 teams’ fish with us and with substitutes, 251 total anglers, representing Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and New Brunswick, Canada. 55 teams represented the combined boat brands of Nitro, Tracker and Pro-Craft participated.

We grew in partnerships! In 2007 we had 9 local and national partnerships which help us provide more than $500 in prizes for each of those ten events. In 2008 we represent 18 different companies from divisional events to our regional championship. In total we exceeded $10,000 in prizes, which included $1000 in prizes at our regional championship. To all our promotional partners - Maine Lake Charts, Marine USA, Toyota, Castaway Graphite Rods, Tru-Tungsten, Put-A-Sock-On-It, Cabin Creek, E-Fish 911, Saco Bay Tackle, Save Phace, Optimum Baits, Naples Bait and Tackle, Case Plastics, Lewiston MaineIACS, the Portland Sea Dogs, Barry's Bait and Tackle, Troutman Swimbaits and Bio-Edge THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your support and we as a group of anglers here in the northeast will to continue our supporting of you.

As for relationships beyond bass fishing we want to thank these groups for their support of our family friendly bass tournament format: the Gardiner Sportsmen's Club, The Fish Tunes Guys, WABK, the Little Sebago Lake Association, the Lake Congamond Lake Association, the ALL SAINTS' EPISCOPAL CHURCH of Wolfeboro, the Town of Wolfeboro, Alberto's Riverside & The Barn Tavern, the Lake Motel, the Allen A Motel, the Lake Wentworth Lake Association, Robies RV Park, Captains Bub's Marina, the Town of Webster Massachusetts, Linda's Flower Shop in Wolfeboro, the Town of Litchfield Maine, Thompson Lake Marina, the Northwoods Journal, BASS Maine, the Blade Runners, NESportsman.com and Mainebass.com.

One quick word for 2009 - We want our growth to continue and see 5 events in Rhode Island, 5 events in Connecticut, 5 events in Massachusetts, 5 events in New Hampshire and 25 events in Maine...for a total of 45 events and a local regional championship in New England. For a bit of clarity the 25 Maine events will spread from the Downeast Divisions, to Bangor, to the Augusta and south to Portland.

As I said all year..."Come Fish With Us"

Happy Holidays from Jimmy Lowe, Peter Kjensted, Vic Morin, Jason Lundstrom, Tim & Donna Hopkins, Clayton Grimm, Matt St. Pierre & William Schwarz
