PresidentAnother year, another fishing season here in Maine. 2011 produced several success stories for the Maine Bass Federation Nation.

Our membership since the organizational split in late 05-early 06 was the strongest yet.

The new IF&W Commissioner, Chandler Woodcock, has actually approached the MBFN with curiosities and questions. As a result a cooperative relationship now exists between our organization and the IF&W.

We also held another successful Governors Cup this past June.

Another first perhaps the organization’s best yet was a result of our 2012 State team qualifier. Our 2011 fish off champion is Keith Aucoin. Keith’s introduction to bass fishing was via a casting kid’s event. He participated and won for his age group and the States championship that year as well. This was his first win but not his last however. This introduction generated interest amongst his family, resulting in the purchase of several bass boats. Keith grew up watching and participating in fishing events and today, well Keith is Maine’s State champion for 2011 and will be leading our team in Medford, Massachusetts this September.

2011 was an excellent year in spite of the influences around us, high fuel prices, access issues, event regulations and the economy.

2012 is shaping up to be just as productive and exciting as the previous few years. Work is underway to bring the 2013 Eastern Divisional to Sebago Lake. A warm water (bass specific) IF&W committee is being established and several new events will be available to our anglers. Again, I continue to be fortunate in representing the MBFN in 2012. Thank you and tight lines!
