The TravisMills.org Wounded Warrior event, volunteer boaters needed
The TravisMills.org / Wounded Warrior event that Charlie Wilson has participated in for the past two years is scheduled for August 28th, a Thursday, on Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson. It will take place out of Camp Wavus, a girls camp in Jefferson, Maine. This event has grown this year and volunteer boats are needed, literally we know now that we cannot provide enough boats but Charile and the bass anglers in Maine (B.A.S.S. Nation, and TBF will reach out to those on the USA and Man VS Bass trails) and we are going to try to supply as many boats as we can. Anyone that can be available should contact Charlie directly at 207.592.1754. Thanks for your consideration.
The Travis Mills Project Nation Veterans Family Center
Travis' dream is to provide a camp in Maine as a recreation center for disabled veterans and their families in a way that is affordable to the needs of the veterans, with need based scholarships available. Here they will unite with the land, the water, nature, and each other; be united, enriched and inspired; and learn they can still enjoy the activities that revitalize the courage and the confidence to keep moving forward.

Maine Wins Team Competition, Hogue and Volkernick Advance to Nationals & JWC
Three days of high skies and winds less than 5mph is unheard of on Maine's Sebago Lake, which most of the anglers agree that added to the tough fishing conditions they all faced.
Several anglers including the junior anglers had seen 4-6 lb. smallmouth roaming the shallows, and one adult angler caught a 9 lb. largemouth in practice.
However most of these brutes all but stayed away from anything that was thrown at them or had completely disappeared on the final few days of competition. Read Full Article
2-Time Eastern Division Jr Bassmaster Champion Advances
Junior angler, Brian Volkernick of Maine weighed in a limit of bass which was hard for most to find in the three days of competition on Sebago Lake in Sept 2013.
Volkernick weighed in 5 smallmouth weighing 7-12 all caught on a Grizz Baits spinnerbait. Volkernick's co-angler, Thomas Behan brought in another 1-1 to add to the Maine Team which helped the overall team competition total weight. Volkernick advanced to JWC IN Arkansas finishing in 4th place. Read Full Article

Ban on Plastic Baits, we need to educate the public
Ban of soft baits in Maine hearing on 2/28, basically it looks like we're looking at pushing the education and collection/recycling of used plastic baits since it is more of a littering problem as the report states. Report stated that bass tournament water bodies were not the problem.
The report favored the plastic recycling program the Maine B.A.S.S. Nation's has been involved in over the last few years. The Maine B.A.S.S. Nation will continue to work in leading the way to educate the public and move forward with our recycling efforts as we have been doing.
