The Maine B.A.S.S. Nation's 2015 High School Bass Championship Results
Oct 11, 2015 on Pleasant Pond/ Cobbossee Stream at the Gardiner Sportsman’s Club. Nine teams from high school bass clubs who have joined the B.A.S.S. high school program were present to vie for the state title and opportunity to advance to the 2016 B.A.S.S. High School National Championship. The high schools represented were Noble, Biddeford, Bonney Eagle, Belfast and the Southern Maine community club. The weather was great, but a week of rapidly changing water levels had the bass in a funk and would challenge the anglers and their boat captain/coaches who headed for their favorite fishing holes to try to catch a team limit of five bass. After the fish were weighed in and released, the winners were declared. The Southern Maine team of Brendon Wood & Hamilton Gray weighed in a limit of bass weighing 8.41lbs in their first trip to the High School championship and it proved to be enough to capture the High School State Championship title. Finishing second was the Bonney Eagle team of Connor Sirois and Riley Brannigan with a limit weighing 7.94lbs. Third place was awarded to the Biddeford team of Read Lavigne & Vincent Seaboyer who had 7.29lbs.
Cabela’s big fish award went to the team of Connor Sirois and Riley Brannigan from Bonney Eagle who caught a 2.46lb largemouth. Following the weigh-in, all anglers and boat captains enjoyed lunch provided by the Gardiner Sportsman’s Club and an opportunity to exchange fish stories.
The first place team of Brendon Wood & Hamilton Gray will also be awarded fishing rods donated by Skeeter boats and both the first and second place teams will advance to the 2016 B.A.S.S. High School Championship to compete for the national title and over $21,000 in college scholarships and prizes.
The Maine B.A.S.S. Nation High School program is sponsored by Triton boats, Mercury outboards, Motorguide trolling motors, Lowrance electronics, Cabela’s, Skeeter boats and Yahama outboards. Maine B.A.S.S. Nation Continues its ReBaits Program
Once again the Maine B.A.S.S. Nation will take the leadership role of collecting used plastic baits by way of collection tubes that have been placed at boat launches in Maine and during local bass tournaments.
The ReBaits program is designed to keep potentially discarded soft plastic baits out of the water and out of the stomachs of fish, and into recycling, not landfills.
The Maine B.A.S.S. Nation has a new Triton Boat at a discounted price for any member or non member looking to purchase one. All you need to do is go to Triton Boats, build your dream rig and print your specs and contact Maine B.A.S.S. Nation President Steve Wilson to see your discount and purchase your dream rig!
We are looking at putting together a list of all the Plastic lure and line recycle tubes that the Maine B.A.S.S. Nation clubs or other organizations have placed at boat launches throughout Maine. This will help identify who placed the tubes at each location as well as give clubs an idea where they are located.
