Meet the Nation Championship contenders
Nov. 17-19, on Texas’ Lake Conroe
Only three competition days separate 113 anglers from three berths in the 2017 GEICO Bassmaster Classic presented by GoPro. Those three days come Nov. 17-19, on Texas’ Lake Conroe, the same fishery where the Classic will take place. The 113 anglers hail from all over the world. A boater and a nonboater from each of 47 states and nine countries will join last year’s defending champion, Albert Collins of Texas, and the Paralyzed Veterans Association Tour’s Angler of the Year, Kurt Glass. The Top 3 out of the 113-angler field will earn a coveted spot in the 2017 Classic. What follows are bios of the 113 anglers who qualified to compete on Conroe in November. Meet the contenders

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –– B.A.S.S. sponsor Huk Performance Fishing is providing B.A.S.S. Nation members a special discount on their clothing, outerwear and accessories. Each state B.A.S.S. Nation President has a special discount code that they can use to order product for state team members, bass clubs, high school teams or their general membership, through the end of 2016. Huk will be making a donation from these sales to B.A.S.S. Conservation and in 2017 we will award Huk Conservation Grants to deserving B.A.S.S. Nation clubs for a projects that encourage fishing youth participation, improve fishing access, fight invasive species, enhance fish habitat or improve tournament fish care. Details of the grant program will be provided to B.A.S.S. Nation Conservation Directors this fall and a request for proposals will be announced via Bassmaster.com and B.A.S.S.Times.
As a relative newcomer on the performance fishing clothing scene, Huk has taken the market by storm. Every angler wants to wear Huk and now B.A.S.S. Nation members can get Huk gear at a substantial discount and help conservation at the same time. "It's a win-win," says B.A.S.S. Conservation Director Gene Gilliland. "I'm particularly grateful for their commitment to conservation. This program goes way beyond what I was hoping for when we first approached Huk owners about our idea. It's a great deal for Nation members and funding for B.A.S.S. Nation projects that will keep our bass fisheries vibrant and healthy."
Maine B.A.S.S. Nation Continues its ReBaits Program
Once again the Maine B.A.S.S. Nation will take the leadership role of collecting used plastic baits by way of collection tubes that have been placed at boat launches in Maine and during local bass tournaments.
The ReBaits program is designed to keep potentially discarded soft plastic baits out of the water and out of the stomachs of fish, and into recycling, not landfills.
The Maine B.A.S.S. Nation has a new Triton Boat at a discounted price for any member or non member looking to purchase one. All you need to do is go to Triton Boats, build your dream rig and print your specs and contact Maine B.A.S.S. Nation President Steve Wilson to see your discount and purchase your dream rig!
We are looking at putting together a list of all the Plastic lure and line recycle tubes that the Maine B.A.S.S. Nation clubs or other organizations have placed at boat launches throughout Maine. This will help identify who placed the tubes at each location as well as give clubs an idea where they are located.
