Maine B.A.S.S. Nation High School & Junior Bassmasters Championship Winners Announced
The Maine B.A.S.S. Nation held the High School Bass Championship Oct 11 on Pleasant Pond/ Cobbossee Stream at the Gardiner Sportsman’s Club. Nine teams from high school bass clubs who have joined the B.A.S.S. high school program were present to vie for the state title and opportunity to advance to the 2016 B.A.S.S. High School National Championship. The high schools represented were Noble, Biddeford, Bonney Eagle, Belfast and the Southern Maine community club. The weather was great, but a week of rapidly changing water levels had the bass in a funk and would challenge the anglers and their boat captain/coaches who headed for their favorite fishing holes to try to catch a team limit of five bass. After the fish were weighed in and released, the winners were declared.

Plastic Lure and Line Recycle Tube Locations
We are looking at putting together a list of all the Plastic lure and line recycle tubes that the Maine B.A.S.S. Nation clubs or other organizations have placed at boat launches throughout Maine. This will help identify who placed the tubes at each location as well as give clubs an idea where they are located.
Androscoggin Bassmasters - Auburn Lake, 3 locations
Bronzeback Mainiacs - Annabessacook Lake. Androscoggin Lake State launch, Wilson Pond, Monmouth, Maranacook Lake (Winthrop and Readfield). Broneback Mainiacs plan on making 5 more for other lakes.
Please send your information and questions to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Maine B.A.S.S. Nation Continues its ReBaits Program
Once again the Maine B.A.S.S. Nation will take the leadership role of collecting used plastic baits by way of collection tubes that have been placed at boat launches in Maine and during local bass tournaments. The ReBaits program is designed to keep potentially discarded soft plastic baits out of the water and out of the stomachs of fish, and into recycling, not landfills.
Maine B.A.S.S. Nation members can Beta test Navico's new fishing app!
We are looking for Maine BASS Nation members with iPhones to Beta test Navico’s newest digital product, the GoFree Hooked app. (Navico is the parent company of Lowrance). Anglers can use this great new app to log fish catches and hold a few “braggin’ rights” tournaments with their fishing buddies. If you know of some anglers that would be interested in beta-testing this new app.
Here’s a little more information about the app: With the app Go Free Hooked app, you use your smart-phone to log fish-catch details and photos, compete in live-leaderboard tournaments, and populate Insight Genesis maps with pins marking the locations of the fish you catch — whether you hooked ‘em in your boat, a buddy’s boat, or from shore. What’s more, those pins can be exported later for use in Lowrance or Simrad unit(s) on the water. And it’s all private. The location of any fish-catch you log with GoFree Hooked is automatically marked with a pin in the online displays of both custom-made Insight Genesis maps and personals view of Insight Genesis Social Map charts. Click on the pin to see all the details about the catch you logged with the app — species, weight, length, bait type and color, depth, cover and/or structure, etc. Those pins — along with your notes — can then be converted easily to a GPX file, saved to an SD (or micro-SD) card, and imported as waypoints into your compatible Lowrance or Simrad sonar/GPS unit. Learn more about that functionality in this blog article: http://tinyurl.com/nhf5dcc
Anglers can sign up for the app’s Beta Test here: www.gofreemarine.com/apps/hooked (after clicking this link, you’ll see the sign-up area at the bottom of the page at the link) Keep in mind that the app is under development. It’s stable, but there is the possibility that not all functionality is intact and it may even crash. That is why we need your input, ideas and diversity of experience. For now, only anglers with iPhones should join the Beta test, Android Beta tests are scheduled for a later date.
